Pam Dawber said that she took a break from acting because she needed to get more time for her family, drive her children to school, be physically present during their birthday celebrations, and celebrate the school festivals with them. Her priorities changed when she became a wife and mother.
Pam made a personal decision to put her career on hold. According to her, she is no longer “chasing the business and fame.” In 2016, while speaking in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the actress said that she had done everything one can do in the acting business, but then, she had kids and felt that she didn’t have to “fake this fame thing again.”

Born and raised in Michigan State, US, Pam began her career as a model before landing her debut acting role in the 1978 film Sister Terri. From 1978 to 1982, she starred in the TV comedy Mork & Mindy. After the series, she acted for a few more years and then took some time away from the industry for about 15 years.
However, Pam returned to the screen in 2014 with a guest appearance on Williams’ Show The Crazy Ones. In 2016, she fully made a comeback and appeared in the reboot of The Odd Couple. In the following year, she took another role in NCIS, this time alongside her husband. She co-starred in seven episodes of the show, and her role as Marcie Warren, a “seasoned investigative journalist,” ended in October 2021.

Pam Dawber and her husband, Thomas Mark Harmon, got married in March 1987 at the peak of their acting career. They have two children together; 35-year-old Sean Thomas Harmon, who is also an actor, and 31-year-old Ty Christian Harmon.
Just as his wife, Mark Harmon, 72, is also a well-established American actor. He is prominent for playing the lead role of Leroy Jethro Gibbs in the popular TV series NCIS. Harmon has acted wide variety of roles since 1970 his career took off.
As a matter of fact, Pam Dawber prioritizes her family, especially her children, over her acting career. In her opinion, two people cannot work all the time in show business and still stay married, and she is happy to be the one that took a hiatus. The actress also dismissed the rumors that her husband is the reason she left the acting scene and also doesn’t stay consistent.
